ROKTalk can be added to any website, either as a toolbar or as a toolbox. Both are customizable, so you can choose exactly how you want ROKTalk to look on your website.
ROKTalk Toolbar
The toolbar is activated with a show/hide button, which is fixed in a prominent position on your website. The show/hide button is fully customizable, so it will fit the look and feel of your site seamlessly.
When a user clicks the show/hide button, the toolbar will instantly appear at the bottom of the screen. It will then float, remaining at the bottom of the screen as the user scrolls up and down on the page.
Try this yourself by clicking the button at the top of this page - our standard toolbar will then appear.
The toolbar itself can be adapted as well – you can change the colour scheme, and add your organisation’s logo to make it look as though it is a part of your own website.
Good examples of adapted toolbars can be seen on the websites of Investors in People and the Down’s Syndrome Association. Simply click the customised show/hide buttons at the top of these pages to see the toolbars in action!
ROKTalk Toolbox
ROKTalk can also be implemented on your website as a toolbox.
The toolbox is embedded on webpages, so it sits at a fixed point on the webpage and does not follow as you scroll up and down the page.
The toolbox is perhaps a more flexible solution than the toolbar, as it can be fully customised - organisations can choose exactly how it looks, what functions to include, and the toolbox's size and position.
Many customers prefer the toolbox as its flexibility allows them to tailor the perfect assistive tool for their website. If you have already spent time and effort designing your site, you will probably not want a assistive functions that ruin your hard work and look out of place. Many users are also less trusting of features that look like external plug-ins.
The two example sites below show just how streamlined or feature-filled your toolbox can be.
Cornwall & Isles of Scilly PCT wanted simplicity in their toolbox, requesting a slender implementation that would fit into a small area. We scaled down the toolbox, and reduced the number of functions to fit their needs.
Wiltshire Police designed a toolbox to suit the style of their new website, and asked for a large number of features. Their solution includes controls for changing text size and background colours, and also has buttons for translating the site into a number of foreign languages.
Our design team can help you come up with a solution that fits the look and feel of your site, or you can tell us exactly how you want your toolbox to look. The beauty of ROKTalk is in its flexibility!
